“Cosplay”, short for Costume Play, is not just big in Japan, it’s HUGE! I was traveling through Hakata/Fukoka in Japan when I heard about this festival and knew I had to go. What photographer could resist a variety of kids in costume hamming it up for the cameras. There were really only about 30 participants, but they were all really into it. The girl above was probably the only costume I recognized, as many of the characters come from Japanese manga and anime.
