Yeah, I think it was the right way at the right time for me to experience NZ. I could have done it all on my own, but it would have been a very different experience.

Sounds like you had a great time though. 

Sad that stray is skipping Christchurch – everything except the center city is open and functioning and they could easily have taken you out to Akaroa instead of the, to be frank rather boring CBD.

I ended up doing the South Island on my own, but it would have been nice to continue on with them, too.
