IMG 6620 Photo Of The Day Tomb Raider Temple

The roots of a tree system that has merged with the stones of the Ta Phrom temple at Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

This week has been spent exploring the many temples of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The image above was taken at the Ta Phrom temple, which is where they shot Tomb Raider. Portions of the temple are in ruins and other portions are merged with jungle trees. As part of the restoration, they’ve cleared enough jungle so you can access the temple but left many of the large tree and root systems in place so you can partially see how the jungle really did over take some of these temples.

I love the tree roots at Angkor Wat. They’re a tourist attraction all by themselves!

Beautiful! Reminds me of the Jungle Book (animated). Angkor Wat is on my list of places to visit. Thanks for making it that much more imaginable!
