I arrived in Osaka, Japan, thinking it would take a couple weeks to find work and I’d be on my way to teaching English for a year in Japan. Unfortunately, a combination of problems with the Japanese economy and the bankruptcy of a massive English-teaching company prior to my arrival meant it took a little over two months to find work. During much of that time looking for work, I saved money by wandering the city when I wasn’t sending out applications.
The castle grounds are open to the public as a massive park, and the Japanese certainly take advantage of it. This was taken from the other side of the moat looking up into the castle proper. There’s a museum inside, but it’s easily skipped if short on time.
